13 tapes revolving around Hannah Baker, a teenager who commits suicide, and leaves behind 13 tapes; 13 Reasons Why is a roller coaster ride. Packaged with suspense, disgust and stomach churning moments this American Drama series will set you on an unforgettable journey.
The series revolves around Hannah Baker’s life and events that lead her to take a huge step and end her life. Played by Katherine Langford, Hannah’s character is typically about this teenage girl who faces the wrath of few wrong decisions, misunderstandings, and expectations and seeks attention and approval of her school acquaintances. Clay Jensen’s character played by Dylan Minnette is picture perfect and convincing in every aspect. He grows from being a shy student to a bold individual.
The two strongest characters in the series are Hannah’s parents, Mrs Baker and Mr.Andy Baker played by Kate Walsh and Brian d’Arcy James. These two characters are soo well written that they will not let you forget the pain parents go through after their kid takes one drastic step.
All the characters grow and evolve from episode to another. Each one of them fits perfectly into the picture, and none of them can be substituted either way.
The plot sails from present to the past. It is weaved in a way that keeps you at the edge. From episode one you might form opinions about characters, keep guessing who was right and who was wrong. The plot revolves around just one question “Why did Hannah commit suicide?” and there is just not one reason or one person to blame.
You might find the pace a little slow, and at times you would yearn to get past a particular episode. But, hold on! It is the beauty of the series, and you will soon understand that is meant to be in the same way.
